Add your OpenAI key

Why you need a key

Your Station sends camera images directly to OpenAI for analysis using your key. Images do not pass through our servers. We receive the results to create Messages and alerts.

OpenAI bills usage to your OpenAI account, separately from your Agentinosaurus subscription. A ChatGPT subscription does not cover this usage.

Choosing a provider

OpenAI is the default for detection. In Settings → Stations you can select TypeSafe AI and assign a matching key instead. A camera uses its Station’s provider unless you choose an override in the camera settings.

You can also choose Local model to analyse frames on the Station computer itself, with no API key and no token bill. See Local models for the requirements.

TypeSafe AI image analysis is experimental and may change or become unavailable.

Camera Chat continues to use your OpenAI key, independently of the provider selected for detection.

Save and assign your key

1. Create an API key in your OpenAI account and make sure API billing is set up. Your organization can provide a key for business use.
2. Open Settings → Stations and choose Add OpenAI key.
3. Give it a recognizable name, paste the key and choose Save key.
4. Open the Station’s processing settings, select the saved key and save.

One key, several Stations

You can assign the same saved key to several Stations. Keys are encrypted and not shown again after saving. Replacing a saved key updates the Stations assigned to it.

If OpenAI cannot process requests, check that the key is valid and that the account has available credit and usage capacity. Never put your key into an Event description or share it in a screenshot.
